Google–Reliance Jio Partnership Grants 18-Month Free AI Pro to Users

New Delhi, Oct. 30, 2025 — Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Google LLC announced a strategic partnership that will give eligible Jio users 18 months of free access to Google’s AI Pro plan, valued at about ₹35,100 per user.

The rollout begins with Jio users aged 18–25 who are on unlimited 5G plans, with activation available via the MyJio app.

Beyond consumer offerings, Reliance’s AI arm, Reliance Intelligence Limited, will collaborate with Google Cloud to provide AI hardware accelerators and enterprise-AI services in India.

Consumer offering: free AI Pro through MyJio

Eligible Jio prepaid or postpaid customers with an unlimited 5G plan (₹349 or above) can claim 18 months of the Google AI Pro subscription via the MyJio app, according to Jio’s FAQ.

The package includes access to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model, image-/video-generation tools Nano Banana and Veo 3.1, expanded NotebookLM access, and 2 TB of Google cloud storage across Gmail, Drive and Photos.

The rollout will start with 18-25-year-old users on unlimited 5G, and then expand nationwide.

Enterprise and infrastructure dimension

Reliance Intelligence will become a strategic partner for Google Cloud, enabling Indian organisations to access Google’s AI hardware accelerators—Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) — and supporting a dedicated AI-cloud region in Jamnagar built by RIL and Google Cloud.

According to RIL’s August 29, 2025 press release, the partnership will support “the most demanding AI workloads” and is powered by green energy and Jio’s network infrastructure.

Context and market implications

India’s telecom and AI landscape has seen increasing competition with firms offering free or low-cost AI services to drive adoption. For example, rival operators have tied up with other AI vendors for similar offers.

The launch reflects Reliance’s ambition to transform from “AI-enabled” to “AI-empowered”, as stated by Chairman Mukesh D. Ambani.
Reliance Industries Limited

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, said the collaboration with Reliance builds on their decade-long work in India’s digital future and now advances into the AI era.

Expert perspectives and data

Industry analysts say offering 18 months of premium AI access at no cost is one of the largest consumer-facing AI incentives in India, serving both user engagement and data-platform growth.

The infrastructure tie-up involving TPUs and a local cloud region adds competitive strength to India’s AI ecosystem by reducing dependency on overseas compute capacity.

Conclusion:

The partnership between Reliance and Google marks a major push into AI for both consumers and enterprises in India, offering broad access and infrastructure support. Next expected updates include the nationwide rollout and uptake metrics as the offer expands beyond the initial 18-25 age cohort.
